“I can sense your anxiety, Van,” Vanderlan whispered, being sure not to wake Daniella. She was calm, her breathing steady. He never thought that he would have a mate, never mind one so important and one he had to share with five Alpha wolves.

“My wolf does not like sharing a bed with a vampire,” Van replied as he caressed Dani’s long brown hair.

“Tell your wolf that it should get used to it. This is what is best for Daniella.”

“I, personally, don’t like these arrangements,” Miele chimed in from across the room. Him, Bently, Baher, and Randolph were stretched out on the sofa and some recliners they’d brought in from the other rooms. They were insistent that they remain close by Daniella as well.

Vanderlan was impressed. He knew a lot about wolves and their mating rituals. But he never saw the exploration of finding a mate and claiming her this close before, and now it seemed she was meant to be his as well.

Daniella moaned as she turned her body to face Vanderlan. He caressed her cheek and softly rubbed his thumb over her bottom lip. She had lovely, full lips. He imagined those lips kissing his skin or wrapped around his cock while he caressed her long, silky brown locks.

She reached for him, touching his chest and snuggling closer. When she opened her eyes, she looked taken aback at first, and then she smiled. “It wasn’t a hallucination?” she whispered.

“On the contrary, my love, it wasn’t and is very real,” he whispered, and she lowered her eyes, so sweetly and innocently. She was precious.

“Are you okay, Daniella?” Van asked, moving closer against her back as his arm wrapped around her midsection.

She looked up over her shoulder. Vanderlan could sense her emotions. She seemed fearful yet content. He hoped that she wouldn’t regret what they shared or deny what was to come now that she had finally awoken.

“Are you angry with me?” she asked Van, surprising them both.

Van pressed his hand up her torso and under her chin and neck to turn her face toward him while Vanderlan caressed the palm of her hand, her wrist, and her lower arm. He could smell her arousal, and it grew stronger by the second.

“Never angry with you, Daniella, just wanting to protect you.” He leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips. Vanderlan inhaled with his eyes closed. Her scent, that intriguing mix, was becoming stronger.

“It is my turn to claim you, mate,” Vanderlan whispered then moved between her legs. She immediately opened to him and reached up to wrap her arms around his shoulders.

Vanderlan heard the low growls around him, and he looked to Van.

“It is time we claim her. All of us, so the bonding is sealed.”

Van caressed Daniella’s cheek, and she turned her face into his palm and kissed the skin.

“Are you sure, Daniella?” Van asked.

“I haven’t a freaking clue, Van. The last forty-eight hours have been mind-boggling. Every part of me is saying this is right.
